Established in 2003 to protect the nation’s Internet infrastructure, US-CERT coordinates defense against and responses to cyber attacks across the nation. ” This is a good resource. It has some handouts for non-technical users (something to give family and friends) as well as some good technical resources.

Deadline Extendend to 12/14 – Tools for Success at MDC – $1000 annual award

The deadline for the Tools for Success program has been extended to this Friday, December 14

MDC Wolfson and Kendall campuses are happy to announce a new Tools for Success program aimed at attracting and supporting students interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The program is funded by the National Science Foundation and will provide students with a wide range of academic, financial, and career support.

Participants will receive tutoring, advisement, transfer and career counseling, mentoring, as well as specially designed enrichment and exploration activities such as podcasts, field trips, and science forums. Through this program, students will have the opportunity to discover and experience the excitement of science, technology, engineering and math and learn about career opportunities. Tuition for each semester’s special 1-credit Tools for Success course, an annual service award of $1,000.00 and an iPod will be provided to students enrolled in the program.

To be eligible for the program you need to:

  • Be interested in majoring in science (except the health sciences), computer science, technology, engineering, or mathematics and transferring to a four year STEM program
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or above
  • Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or national or alien admitted as a refugee at the time of application
  • Be exempt from or have completed all college preparatory courses at time of application
